Research center functions since 1996. It's leader - professor Vladimir Nemchenko (Dr. sc. agr.) , an honored agronomist of Russia. Other members of the research center:

Scientific research work is held in cooperation with the leading selection centers of Russia, Kazakhstan, and international centers such as CIMMYT and KASIB.
The result of this cooperation is 8 brand new sorts of wheat: Omskaya 35, Omskaya 36, Omskaya 38, Boyevchanka, Gerakl, Uralosibirskaya (in cooperation with Siberian Scientific-Research Institute of Agriculture), Tobolskaya (in cooperation with Altay Scientific-Research Institute of Agriculture), Chernozemnouralskaya 2 (in cooperation with Voronezh Scientific-Research Institute of Agriculture), which have been included in the registry of achievements in selection in Ural, West-Siberian, East-Siberian, Volga-Vyatskiy and Srednepovolzhskiy regions of Russian Federation, as well as in the Northern parts of Kazakhstan.Sorts of field pea: Aksayskiy usatiy (in cooperation with Donskiy Scientific-Research Institute of Agriculture and close joint-stock company "Semena Dona"), Zauralskiy 3 (in cooperation with Siberian Scientific-Research Institute of Agriculture), Ruslan ( in cooperation with Krasnoyarsk Scientific-Research Institute of Agriculture). These sorts are spread along Volgo-Vyatskiy, North-Caucasus, Nizhnepovolzhskiy, Ural, East-Siberian, Far Eastern regions, as well as North Kazakhstan.
In the scientific center the selection process is run according to the classical scheme, with a nursery garden for 1500 sort items, which includes the collection from the Russian Institute of Plant Industry, selection samples from many scientific-research centers of the Russian Federation and abroad. Annually around 200-300 hybrid combination are made. There is a greenhouse, a phytotron, which allows, in conditions of artificial climate, receiving 2-3 generations of hybrids in fall-winter season. This speeds up the selection process a lot. Annually, about 15-20 thousand lines are studied.
On the basis of "Kurgansemena" company the selection work is done in cooperation with materials from CIMMYT and KASIB. The project involves selection institutions from Russia and Kazakhstan, uniting together 20 selection spots. Russia is represented by the following regions: Altay, Omsk, Chelyabinsk, Kurgan, Novosibirsk. 10 research institutions of Khazakhstan are represented by organizations from Aktyubinsk, Almaty, Karaganda, Karabalyk, Pavlodar. Thanks to this work, a great areal with various soils and climates is considered, thus making it possible to properly investigate the selection material.
Every year more than 1000 lines and 200 hybrid populations of soft wheat is investigated, and the selection of lines resistant to diseases is done.
Studying a wide range of selection items in time and space allows to give them a proper evaluation and to find out valuable characteristics.
According to the results of cooperative work the further productive directions of development between Russian, Kazakhstan scientists, CIMMYT representatives, scientists from Mexico, the USA and other countries are defined.
There is an effective cooperation with Novosibirsk cytology and genetics institute. With the help of genetic research, done on our samples with molecular markers, new perspective and highly productive selection lines of wheat have been created, which are also resistant to a complex of diseases.
The variety of sorts, the seeding material of which is produced in "Kurgansemena" company, is rather wide, according to both the vegetation period and gradation, quality characteristics, adaptation capability The main requirements that they must fulfill are stable productivity and stable quality in our extreme climate conditions, when plants are influenced by high and low temperatures, exceeding humidity and lack of it.
All the sorts of wheat are related to the group of strong and valuable.
The selection work is being successfully developed in our company. At present the following sorts of wheat are being tested: Tobolskaya Stepnaya, Hayat, Sigma 2 and Chernozemnouralskaya 2, spring barley Beysik, which are characterized by stable productivity when growing both in humid and dry years, and provide high-quality grain. A range of brand new sorts of wheat, barley, oat and beans are being prepared.
Primary seed breeding is held by the method of individual-family selection, analyzing every ear and with two-year control period in nursery-garden, which allows to support the unity of a sort.
Along with creating new sorts, the center works out new technologies on soil processing, including recommendations on ways of soil preparation, dates and norms of seed sowing, fertilizer usage systems and plant protection agents.
Unique sorts of agri-holding "Kurgansemena" are wide-spread, both in Kurgan Region, taking more than 70% of area, and on other significant lands in a variety of regions in Russia and Kazakhstan.
Today, the wheat sort Omskaya 36 is the leader according to its sowing area in Russia and Kazakhstan among spring wheat. Among leaders is field pea Aksayskiy usatiy 55.
In general, the sorts, production of which involved specialists of agri-holding "Kurgansemena", take more than 7 million hectares of land.
